Naming Conventions

This page describes the syntax that we use to prefix slack channels.

Prefix	Description	Examples
all-	Public groups that are open to everyone	all-grants-gov all-nofo all-welcome
internal-	Intentionally private groups for internal team communication	internal-grants-gov internal-nofo
topic-	Public groups that relate to work in a specific practice or subject area with long-running communication	topic-design topic-engineering topic-product
temp-	Time-limited private or public groups that are organized around a particular topic or working effort. These could be noisy or time sensitive and are planned to be archived	temp-slack-channel-setup temp-prod-incident-13
zbot-	Public or private groups with slack automations	zbot-aws-alerts
z_	Public groups for miscellaneous or fun topics to discuss	z_grants-pets z_random
